Janet Mangione is from the Albany, NY area where she spent her early years. She traveled the east coast from New York to South Carolina on a surveying team with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and later was an administrator in the New York State Tuition Assistance Program. She moved to Rochester, NY when she met jazz pianist Gap Mangione in 1979. She was extensively involved with his touring in the USA, Canada and Mexico through 1983. They were married in 1985.
Janet has had a considerable modeling career: fashion, runway work, trunk shows (Tommy Hilfiger, Donna Karen, Perry Ellis, Calvin Klein, Whiting and Davis and others); photography and commercial advertising (model for an annual Kodak international bathing suit poster) in Rochester/Upstate New York and New York City. She was featured prominently in the Chuck Mangione music video, “Save Tonight For Me.”
While in Rochester, she has pursued her artistic endeavors and created an extensive array of work. Although she has studied with Cheng-Khee Chee, Frank Webb and Lisa Cyr, she is mainly self taught. Her paintings span many media formats and subjects.
